Backdated - Hubs Bday

Location - Renaissance Hotel, Vogue Cafe

Hubs celebrated his birthday at the Vogue Cafe. A small family affair with only his brothers and their family.  Ever since Amber came along, hubs b'day had always taken a step back, the little one's birthday do always outshines the fathers. 

Side track a bit back to 2006, the day Amber was born. Hubs bday was a day after. With a newborn in the house (I was discharged the following day), no one remembers hubs bday. We had breakfast in the hospital, he had his coffee fix, I had tomato soup. By night, he was getting restless already and invited our confinement lady to have coffee with him at San Francisco Coffee at Ampang Point while he claimed his birthday coffee treat. :D

Amber wore a lovely rose dress. My sister in law, Pearl, got this dress for her and I think it fits the my skinny princess perfect. She donned plenty of 'Barbie jewelries',birthday presents from her aunties.

 

She put on the accessories on her own - hairband, necklace, ring and wristband. All dressed up and she really puts me to shame :(

Yuen Wen cheh cheh was there too and as usual, both of them created a ruckus.

The hotel obliged to my request for dairy free ice cream and gave Amber a cup of strawberry sorbet. Sometimes, all I've gotta do is ask and explain Amber's situation. Most reputable hotels will oblige.

The girls were in a 'gila gila' mood. Both dressed up to the nines but the climbed up and down chairs, laughed loudly and made faces  *sigh*... after a moment of nagging 'do-nots'.. I couldn't bother. Let the pictures speak for itself, on what they were up to.

She turns 5 today !

Happy Birthday to my little girl.

Little baby no more, little girl she is. Into Disney princess, costumes, all things ballerina and pink, that's my little girl turning 5 today.

I have a confession, an admission actually. I've dreamed wanted to plan birthday parties for her.
1st birthday came and gone, then the 2nd, 3rd, 4th came and gone too. Year in year out, we've been having dinner with the in laws to celebrate her birthday, and I've still not planned a proper party for her.

Every year, I have the perfect excuse for not planning a proper birthday party and it does not help that hubs birthday falls a day after hers and he has his own agenda with his brothers too. That's a family thing and a tradition we won't stop.

The past few weeks have been hectic. One event after another. My bestie is back from London. Brother and family back for Easter holidays and we just came back from a family holiday at Langkawi last week.
Hubs has a new assignment in hand and he's packed with appointments.

Amidst the busy-ness, life's been good and I am thankful.

I wanted to plan a McDonald birthday party tomorrow for Amber since the cousins are in town but McD's party schedule doesn't agree with ours and all parties are in late afternoon and evenings coz afternoon's packed with McValue lunch crowd. So, McD's out !

Ding-dong-ding-dong here and there and I haven't planned a party for her but since my brother and his family was in town, we had dinner and a blow candle session yesterday. Photos to come up when the busy-ness tide is low.

She requested for Princess cupcakes and wants to share with her pallies at the childminders. I made a box but used them for last nights dinner with my brother. I didn't want to disappoint her.. made another batch, ran out of edible image, I tried the pack of pettinice icing. Big mistake. so messy and un-manageable. Anyone with experience on pettinice here ? hello ??  I cheated a little bit here and there and got together 2 box of cuppies. One for the childminders and a couple more for celebration dinner tonight with the grandparents here :

She made a birthday wish last night.. supposedly a secret but you know 5 year olds la..can't keep a secret. In less than 2 seconds.. she whispered her wishes to me. She wants a scooter for her bday and a yoyo car for her 6th birthday. Very smart ! I can't think of anyone else who'll wish for next birthdays.. aiyer.. this little girl is too smart for her own good. I whispered back.. why don't you wish the opposite ? A yoyo car for 5 year old and a scooter for your 6 year old birthday ??

.. and that's because we have a yoyo car in our garage to surprise her tonight *sniggers*

And there's the pressies.. so many pressies for her. From my friends, her friends, beautiful dressess from my sister in law, her cousins and a big parcel arrived from Perth yesterday. There's a princess pink 'gown' in it and she wants to wear it tonight.

She's loved, my girl !

Although we're only having a simple celebration with the family tonight, the kind and warm thoughts from friends and family, near and far fills her birthday with many wonderful memories !

31/12 was my birthday and I thank all my pals for the wishes, sms and FB. The big day started great, a week before with a massage treat from my good pal, you know who you are.... 2 hour Thai massage was heavenly when you've been working hard, running a fruitcake factory :)

My sis knocked on my door at 7am to deliver home brewed chicken essence. Heavenly ! and thank you tai kar cheh !

Then came wishes from the little one. She wrote me birthday notes. Plenty and I've kept a couple in my wallet :

 

A must keep in my wallet, she'll ask me if I've kept or throw it away, and ask to see the proof.. haih.. this little girl. I asked for only 1 more gift from her, that she be a good girl on mummy's birthday and don't raise an occasion for me to shout at her. So, it was a day of bribery too. I kept going on and on.. you have to do this.. because it's mummy's birthday or you have to finish your lunch, because it's my birthday and a long list of you have to-s.. It's great if everyday was my birthday right ?

No housework and no laundry on my big day. We left for Mid Valley to catch Gulliver's Travel, with complimentary pass from my sister's best pal. Bless her and thank you HT !

She also treated me to coffee and cakes at San Terri. Hubs wanted 'real coffee' and Illy at San Terri's was the best we could get at Gardens.

All of us were too full to have any cake but I chose a slice of Opera, my favourite :) for the sake of Amber, who was sooo looking forward to blowing the candles... and she fed me cake too ..nearly poking my eyes with her fork

 

After an evening of nothing-ness and a long nap, we had dinner at Brussels Beer Cafe. I wanted a casual place without all the New Year celebrations and most importantly, food which Amber can take. Amber loves Brussel's roast pork :)

We shared among us : 

She granted my birthday wish by obeying my instructions, my calls, finishing up her food and simply by just being happy. She's happy, I'm happy, hubs is happy. Happiness is a circle that goes round and round and it breeds on you, doesn't it ?

but we left Brussels for somewhere more interesting

to meet our friends.. Sharon and her family.. for a late evening toast to the New Year.

Minutes before midnight, we walked out to watch the fireworks.

The Ben10 cake that was not.

We celebrated Yuen Wen Cheh-Cheh's birthday at Madam Kwan, Mid Valley. She had a Ben10 cheesecake from Secret Recipes:

Tell me, which part looks like Ben10 ?? Kinda feel cheated coz when we ordered, the pic shown on the catalog was the Ben 10 boy, the one with black hair and wearing the watch. Outcome above is not according to specs.. and Amber's Ben 10 cake was the same too, the sugar paper was not according to the brochures.

Anyway, kids gets so excited with birthday cakes, they forgot all about the actual Ben 10 picture.

Amber and her cheh cheh.. anybody and everybody's birthday is a reason to celebrate coz she wants to blow the candles !!!



Ben 10 or not, her only share of the cake is the sugar paper, with the creams and white chocolate icing underneath scraped off.


Luckily, she liked Madam Kwan's fried chicken leg..

1 year more Amber.. 1 year and you can have your real cake.

Talking about cheesecakes.. I think Secret Recipe's cake have shrunk in size, has anyone noticed ?

Partner in Crime turns 5 !

Amber's best friend and her partner-in-crime is cousin sister Yuen Wen cheh cheh..
Cheh cheh is 10 months older than Amber and since both are about the same age, they get along very well.


Cheh cheh turns 5 today and we'll celebrate with her tonight.

She had asked me to get a Playdoh set for cheh cheh... one that can churn out coffee and ice cream and one which is 'nicer' than her own set..
.. and she also chose a nice dress for cheh cheh.. the best that she liked and then tells me.. 'But Amber wants wor''.. so I bought 2, one for her, and another for cheh cheh.

... such is her generosity for her best friend, aka partner-in-crime.

and recollect the good times spent together.


Both, as toddlers... sharing a 50sen car ride at Tesco Malacca.
